Happy Thai New Year – Songkran Water Festival
Posted by Jenn Infanto on 09th April 2015
It’s finally here! After a long year of prosperity and good fortune, Songkran Water Festival is back. The Songkran Festival is also known as the Thai New year or the Thailand Water Festival. It was originally celebrated as a way for the Thai people to sprinkle water on their family members and elders for good fortune and pay their respects and honor images of their beloved Buddha. It is time to give thanks and say goodbye to the old and say hello to a new exciting year. Songkran never goes out without a fight. The traditional water fight will build up an appetite and what a better excuse to kick off our April weekend special beginning April 10th-12th with our take on The Moo Ping. This mouth watering Thai street dish is sure to spark interest in anyone who loves the authentic flavors of Thailand. The Moo Ping comes with grilled pork skewers and sticky rice made with our Tigers Cry Sauce. This dish is inspired by one of Ayara’s favorite street cart in Bangkok, the mecca of the Songkran celebration.
